Powys Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) looks forward to welcoming an Occupational Therapist to join our team on a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2027 providing maternity leave cover. 
 
If you have specialist knowledge and experience in Neurology, enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and want to utilise and develop your skills and knowledge within a highly specialist, community, consultant-led therapy service, we very much welcome your interest in this role. 

Main duties of the job

Powys CNRT specialises in therapeutic rehabilitation and management strategies for adults with progressive and non-progressive neurological disability and includes:

  • Consultant Therapist
  • Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist
  • Highly Specialist Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists
  • Motor Neuro Care Coordinator
  • Therapy support workers
  • Administrative coordinator

CNRT operates Weekdays 8:30am - 4:30pm. This role can be based at either Welshpool or Newtown Hospital, dependent on the successful candidates preference, covering a community caseload across the whole of North Powys. 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Provide Highly Specialist Occupational Therapy to patients with neurological disability.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care within the team, through performance monitoring and the training and development of others.
  • To act as a source of expertise in the holistic management of neurological needs, providing strategies and education to patients, carers/families, professionals and other services involved as part of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. 
  • To activity engage in CPD and service development work.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Relevant post graduate training at master's level or equivalent demonstrable academic knowledge to master's level
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of the CSP

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive postgraduate experience with significant experience at a senior level
  • Taking responsibility and managing complex caseloads
  • Clinical supervision of staff and students
  • Working in a MDT
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership and first line manager experience
  • Experience of audit
  • Experience of a range of health settings
