Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant within our busy Community Paediatric Support Admin Team to be based at Coral House, Shrewsbury. This a permanent full-time position (Mon-Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm).
The successful candidate will provide an efficient, effective, streamlined and high-quality clerical service supporting Consultant Paediatricians, Associate Specialists, Nurse Consultant, Trainee Doctors and Nursery Nurses. Therefore, experience of dealing with a wide range of people both on the telephone and in person is important.
The main role of the successful candidate will be making clinic appointments, sending out appointment letters and data entry onto inhouse computer system. In addition, there will be a requirement to assist in routine office procedures including sending, photocopying of documentation, general clerical work, telephone reception cover and receipt and distribution of post.
Candidates will hold RSA/OCR Stage II word processing/typing or equivalent and Business Administration Level 2 or experience in a clerical role. They should have excellent telephone, interpersonal and communication skills and be computer literate with good keyboard skills and the ability to prioritise and organise work whilst dealing with frequent interruptions.

Main duties of the job
The aim of the Community Paediatric Administration Team is to provide high quality administrative service, supporting health professionals and Local Authority partners in delivering a quality service to the children and families.
The service supports Community Paediatric Clinics, the Children in Care function, Special Educational Needs and Disability function.
The post holder will be expected to ensure that all clerical functions are carried out to the highest quality standards and within the deadlines applicable to that particular area of work.
