Highly Specialist Acute Dietitian

NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

Due to maternity leave, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated band 7 Dietitian to join our Dietetic team as clinical lead for the acute service at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust for a fixed term of 12 months.

We are looking for experienced individuals to lead our band 5 and 6 Dietitians in the acute Dietetic team on both acute hospital sites.  The successful candidate will provide clinical expertise using the latest evidence-based practice to a wide variety of patients across all the wards. You will also clinically support the Nutrition Team and work collaboratively with our other clinical band 7 Dietitians to provide a high quality of care across all clinical areas.

The team is actively involved in dietetic student training placements and there is scope for the successful candidate to contribute significantly in this.

You will be part of a friendly, forward thinking and supportive team working in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.  High quality patient care is at the forefront of our decision making and we are enthusiastic about welcoming new ideas.

Informal discussions about this post are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead the team in assessing, diagnosing, interpreting and managing a caseload of often complex patients
  • To be a role model for the team in driving expertise within this area.

  • To complete audits to demonstrate clinical effectiveness and provide evidence in line with demand and capacity methodology.
