Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced acute care Pharmacist to play a pivotal role in advancing digital medicines at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).
This senior role will be central to the implementation, development, optimisation and future direction of our Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system and other systems for digital medicines as we progress through a period of significant transformation.
You will provide senior clinical pharmacy expertise and oversight to support system design, implementation and the development of new, digitally enabled ways of working. Your contribution will be instrumental in ensuring that ePMA supports safer, more efficient and more integrated care across our services.
We are seeking someone who is solution‑focused, collaborative, with a strong interest in digital innovation and improving patient safety through better use of technology.
This senior clinical informatics position offers the opportunity to shape ePMA across SaTH, influencing medicines optimisation, quality of care and the Trust’s digital maturity. Main duties of the job
The post holder leads the design, implementation, optimisation and governance of the ePMA and other digital medicine systems across The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), combining advanced clinical pharmacy expertise with digital leadership to ensure high‑quality, safe and efficient medicines management.
This role is central to supporting the Trust’s digital transformation agenda and the Hospital Transformation Programme (HTP), ensuring that digital medicines processes are robust, standardised and aligned with future models of care.
The post holder responsible for maintaining and updating the medicines template database, developing and reviewing ePMA policies, and ensuring that all content is evidence‑based, accurate and optimised for safe use. Quality assurance responsibilities include auditing templates, order sets and workflows, monitoring compliance, and ensuring that ePMA functionality supports safe and efficient prescribing and administration practices.
The post holder will also review incidents, risks and user feedback related to digital medicines processes, providing expert analysis and reporting to drive continuous improvement, reduce variation and strengthen patient safety across the Trust.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters qualification in pharmacy or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Project management (PRINCE2 or equivalent)
- IT qualification such as clinical safety training
Experience and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in a Hospital
- Management of digital projects
- Demonstratable management of change experience
- Previous staff management experience
- Experience of risk management and hazard logs
- Advanced and demonstratable analytical and clinical knowledge gained through training and experience
- Experience of participating in an ePMA or EPR workstream processes
Desirable criteria
- Experience of system validation
- Experience of business planning, business case development and capital planning scheme exposure
- Extensive knowledge of long term national digital agenda as they apply to medicines

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
