Job overview

Band 6 Occupational Therapist Fixed Term Contract 12 months - 27.5 hours per Week based in Whitchurch Community Hospital - Northeast Locality.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, with post graduate experience in a variety of clinical settings within the NHS and with experience in a community setting to join the Integrated Community Services at an exciting time in its development.

You will be part of an integrated team of health and social care professionals, supporting patients in their own homes and/or in community based reablement beds or Community Hospital beds.  Based at Whitchurch Community Hospital.

You will provide clinical guidance and support to your colleagues and work closely with the team leader and caseload holder to develop robust pathways and processes within the team and within the wider voluntary and independent sector.   

The post includes weekend working on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality Occupational Therapy service within a multidisciplinary team, delivering a flexible approach to patient care, in a variety of settings throughout the locality, following the patient through their care pathway.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of Core Rotations
  • Evidence of specialist post graduate training and education with older adults

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post graduate experience in a variety of NHS clinical settings with experience of community settings.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary / multi-agency teams.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ongoing awareness of recent developments in practice and research including NSF and NICE guidelines
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk management and their implications for the service
  • Effective communication within the team.
  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Be able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
