Enhanced Recovery Administrator/Ward Clerk

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, friendly, reliable and committed individual looking for a career in health care to join our busy team as an Enhance Recovery administrator/Ward Clerk.

 You will be communicating with patients with regards to their Pre-habilitation Process to give information and education on preparing for their surgery, to relay expectations of length of stay in Hospital and what the necessary requirements are needed on discharge.

To work with the multi-disciplinary team to promote Enhanced recovery on the ward.

Additional duties will be supporting Philip Yeoman by greeting patients when they are arrive for appointments and be responsible for checking them in and out on the patient database.  You will be part of a busy team and will be responding to enquiries both on the telephone and by email and booking appointments for patients. 

We are looking for someone who has great people people skills, has excellent time management skills and can thrive in a busy work environment.  You will need to access patient related information on the hospital systems, be comfortable in using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, and be very computer literate.

  • To work with the multi-disciplinary team to promote Enhanced recovery on the ward.
  • Receive patients and relatives at reception in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Answer all telephone enquiries in a helpful manner with an understanding of patient confidentiality, taking and relaying messages competently and taking action as appropriate
  • To maintain patient details/appointments efficiently on the patient administration system (Millennium)
  • To cancel and rebook patients as needed
  • To book interpreters as and when required
  • To liaise with nurses, doctors, and other members of the department to provide a quality service for the patients
  • To ensure that patient confidentiality is observed and adhered to at all times whether in person or by telephone
  • To carry out other clerical duties as required; this will include scanning and attaching documents to patients electronic records
  • To be flexible to the needs of the department to ensure cover and smooth-running of the department as a whole
