Health Care Support Worker Sexual Health - Band 3

Band 3

Job overview

The Riverside Clinic, situated in the centre of Bath, is a busy integrated contraception and sexual health service. The department is presently open Monday to Saturday including some evenings and we are therefore looking for someone who can be flexible with their working hours.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills. You must be able to work within a team and be flexible to meet the needs of the department. Knowledge and experience in the NHS or care setting is desirable, but not essential.

You will be required to support the medical and nursing team in providing a comprehensive patient focused service.  You will chaperone patients when they are being examined and after training, perform venepuncture.  You will be required to set up clinical rooms and ensure they are well stocked. After training you will need to be able to prepare slides for microscopy, perform blood pressure monitoring, pregnancy and urine dipstick testing. Liquid nitrogen is used to treat certain conditions and you will be expected, after training, to fill hand held cannisters.

It is essential to have GCSE passes or equivalent, basic IT skills, good written and verbal communication skills, experience of dealing with the public and good organisational skills.

For further information please contact Lucy Twigger on 01225 826835.
