Consultant Clinical Oncologist - Breast and Skin
Consultant
Job overview
Help us shape the future of cancer care at the Royal United Hospitals Bath. We’re seeking a dedicated Consultant Oncologist who is ready to be part of something bold.
We are recruiting a 10 PA substantive Consultant Oncologist who has specialist interest in Breast and Skin cancers. This is a new expansion post where you will be joining a dynamic and friendly team of both established and new oncologists who value teamwork and input into many national roles.
You will be based in our state of the art Dyson Cancer Centre which opened in 2024 at the RUH. It was purpose-built to change the way we deliver cancer care. This flagship facility is more than just bricks and mortar - it’s a place of hope, innovation, and healing - and now we have this opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious oncologist to join our cohesive team who is committed to providing the local population with excellent care.
You’ll be part of a service that is already delivering outstanding care, but now has the space, ambition, and energy to do even more. We are committed to leading the way in compassionate, personalised cancer treatment, underpinned by modern technology, integrated pathways, and a supportive, learning-focused environment.
Why come and join us?
- You'll be based in the brand-new Dyson Cancer centre designed by patients, staff, and the future of oncology in mind
- You'll be part of a growing and supportive team who have a strong multi-disciplinary ethos
- There'll be opportunities to shape services, develop sub-specialty interests, and get involved in teaching, research, and innovation
- We have strong academic links and collaborate with regional networks and universities
- You'll be joining a Trust that values its people, with wellbeing, development, and flexibility built into our culture.
If you’re passionate about delivering excellent oncology care, committed to teamwork, and excited by the chance to be part of a forward-looking service, we’d love to welcome you.
We want to hear from professionals with vision, compassion, and a commitment to clinical excellence to come and make a difference.
Main duties of the job
The job is 10 PAs with 8.5:1.5 DCC:SPA split providing full oncological radiotherapy and systemic services for patients with Breast and Skin cancers. There is scope for less than fulltime working for applicants wishing to work less than 10 PAs.
For first year Consultants there will be a reduction in Outpatient Clinic commitment with mentoring, including a Trust New consultants induction programme, to enable new consultants to find their feet, build confidence and relationships within the department and wider trust.
Working for our organisation
At the RUH we are proud to put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone’s contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.
We are proud to be in the top 20 best hospitals to work for in the country.
We are committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive environment. This can be seen in our growing community of staff networks – celebrating successes and creating opportunities to listen and learn. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger. A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.
We value staff wellbeing, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellbeing. We’ve even got a swimming pool!
We are committed to supporting you and hope you want to join our team. In the meantime, find out more about living and working the beautiful historic city of Bath, learn about our extensive package of staff benefits, and read about how we’re providing healthcare fit for the future with the landmark Dyson Cancer Centre and our passion for research.
