Job overview
We are recruiting a Dental Nurse to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract.
We are inviting applications from those without the Radiography training and you will start on a band 4 before progressing to a band 5 salary.
You will make a difference in this role as you'll be part of a busy, multidisciplinary team which covers Restorative, Orthodontics and Maxillofacial Surgery for our patients.
You will be supported by the Senior Dental Nurses, Dental nurse specialists, registered Nurses and the multidisciplinary team to undertake all relevant aspects of dental nursing and patient management: and be expected to act in an accountable manner, adhering to relevant codes of conduct and Trust policies.
We are looking for a well organised team member, who has an understanding of evidence based practice and is also able to use their own initiative as well as in a team.
You should be able to lay out, clear and reset dental equipment, ensuring that all infection prevention and effective control measures are met. Organise workload to give timely and appropriate care, recognising when appropriate to share.
Main duties of the job
General
· Act in a supportive, informative and sensitive manner towards patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues at all times.
· Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of holistic care and provide clinical leadership in relevant clinical areas.
· Be able to communicate with a variety, adapting styles of communication to meet the needs of patients, relatives and carers, managers, peers and other professions / agencies.
· Using initiative to generate solutions within own and others’ practice to enhance care and treatment.

Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, and an indepth understanding of Maxillofacial conditions and Orthodontic Treatments which can be developed in post.
- Understanding of GDC requirements for the practice and behaviour and its application to the management of staff and self.
- Understanding of the theory and application of Clinical Governance.
- Experience working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
- Inclusion on the GDC register for Dental Nurses.
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
- Completion of Dental Radiography qualification to be completed within 12 months of commencement in post
