To be eligible for this post you must be able to evidence that you have completed the UK Foundation Programme (UKFP) and have a Foundation Programme Certificate of Completion or be a current F2 doctor working towards completion of the UK Foundation Programme (UKFP).

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months commencing on 5th August 2026 until 3rd August 2027 (subject to employment clearances). 

What you’ll do

  • Deliver engaging teaching for undergraduate and foundation learners
  • Develop tutorials, workshops, PBL and digital learning sessions
  • Support Trust‑wide education projects and faculty development
  • Optional protected clinical session to maintain clinical skills
  • No on‑call commitments

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of qualification or experience in education

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Competent in history taking and examination skills
  • Clear logical thinking showing an analytical/scientific approach
  • Appropriate defined level of clinical knowledge and clinical competence
  • Shows awareness of limitations and shows knowledge of evidence based practice
Desirable criteria
  • Information technology skills

Travel

Essential criteria
  • Able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post

Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Recent Experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students
  • Undertaken undergraduate medical training in English;
  • Have the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 6, Reading 6, Writing
  • Evidence of Foundation Programme Certificate of Completion for the UK Foundation Programme (UKFP) or currently an F2 doctor working towards completion.
  • Can demonstrate an interest or have worked experience in psychiatry.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • Able to communicate effectively with students and clinicians
  • Able to establish good working relationships with all members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organisational skills and time management.
  • Able to organise own learning.

CLINICAL GOVERNANCE

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of clinical audit.
  • Awareness of Clinical Risk
Desirable criteria
  • To have completed a Quality improvement project

TEACHING

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience of teaching medical students.
Desirable criteria
  • Exposure to different teaching methods
  • Knowledge of Foundation doctor curriculum.

RESEARCH AND AUDIT

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of clinical audit and quality improvement and have an active interest in educational research
Desirable criteria
  • To have completed an audit project/ QIP in medical education
  • Publications on medical education, innovation and or research
