Job overview

We are looking for a Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) to join our Swindon Primary Care Liaison Service (PCLS), and form part of our Multi Disciplinary Team. 

We are looking for a qualified Clinical Associate in Psychology (accredited / plans to be accredited) to fill an identified skills gap in the PCLS, offering interventions for service users who are experiencing complex mental health difficulties. This is a dynamic and fast-paced work environment that offers the right candidate an exciting opportunity to develop their assessment, risk management and formulation skills. The team work individually and systemically with both adults of working age and older adults. 

The Clinical Associate Psychologist will be able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of and working closely with the team. There are also opportunities to work closely with other psychological professionals working on the acute pathway.

The PCLS Team operates 08:00-18:00 5 days a week – however working hours for this role would be 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

  • Working within the scope and remit of a PCLS, delivering care and interventions to service users.

  • This role is semi autonomous working under supervision of a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. 
  • Psychological assessment and formulation of a specified client group depending on service need and skills/training on practitioner.
  • Offer defined evidence based psychological interventions to client group,
  • Working with Service Users with complex mental health problems
  • You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing training and supervision.
  • To offer psychological interventions alongside the MDT

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • This role is semi autonomous working under supervision of a local Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling Psychologist) responsible for the psychology provision in Swindon Intensive Service.
  • Psychological assessment and formulation of a specified client group depending on service need and skills/training of practitioner.
  • Offer defined evidence based psychological interventions to that specific client group, in particular cognitive behaviour therapy.
  • Working with Service Users with complex mental health problems
  • You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing training and supervision.
  • To care co-ordinate a small caseload for whom they are providing the main psychological intervention. Where the demands of care coordination extend beyond the psychological intervention, the care coordination will be reviewed.
