Job overview

An exciting opportunity has come up for a 30 hours a week Neurology Coordinator role  focusing on the individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and individuals living with Epilepsy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person to work in this busy department.  The post is to ensure patients’ pathways are monitored and kept up to date and to be a primary point of contact for the patient.  The post is interesting and varied and requires the ability to work as a member of a team.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate good effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, work methodically under pressure, have the ability to work using your own initiative plus the ability to work as a member of a team. Previous NHS experience is an advantage.

Main duties of the job

This role involves working in the Neurology team to coordinate the care and management of the patients along clinical pathways. Working in conjunction with colleagues, service users and stakeholders to provide an efficient service.

To be the primary contact for patient, initial triage, solve routine questions and raise relevant issues with the appropriate clinicians. e.g., the issues around changes in conditions and medication such as disease modifying drugs.

Assisting in the development of the service within the department with the assistance of the senior operational manager, clinicians and any relevant individuals

To use own initiative and work without immediate supervision. The post holder is required to maintain the Trust’s values and core standards and to lead by example.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 5 GSCEs including English Language and Maths or functional skills

Knowledge

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Working knowledge of in-house hospital systems

  • Good communication skills on the telephone, via email, face to face and in written correspondence

Experience

  • Previous office administration experience with a proven track record of problem solving (3 years minimum)
  • Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
