Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Learning Disability Band 6

We're extremely proud of winning a HSJ Award - Mental Health Trust of the year, and we're looking for committed individuals to join our team!

To work within the wider specialist MDT Learning Disability service offering  Speech and Language therapy interventions to adults with a diagnosis of Learning disability in the community.  This will include undertaking dysphagia assessments and developing eating and drinking plans as well as assessing communication needs. 

 

Main duties of the job

Are you a Speech & Language Therapist looking for an exciting challenge in a dynamic community based Learning Disabilities Speech and Language Therapy team?

If so, come and join our skilled and enthusiastic service  based in East Somerset.

This is a great opportunity to further develop your specialist skills in the management of adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties within a multidisciplinary specialist learning disability health team.

You will be dysphagia competent and able to carry out assessment and management of eating/drinking and swallowing difficulties autonomously. You will be able to write a comprehensive dysphagia care plan and liaise with the wider multi disciplinary team as clinically indicated.

For the right applicant, we would consider someone without experience in dysphagia or a Band 5 looking to develop their clinical skills.

The successful applicant will join a supportive and motivated team of Clinical Specialist SLTs and Specialist SLTs and Health Resource Technician. The LD SLT team is committed to evidence based practice and continuing professional development. Regular team meetings, CPD and regular supervision ensure a high quality of service is provided.

An enthusiastic approach and ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team is required for this role.

present with communication disorders and eating, drinking,
swallowing disorders (dysphagia), as part of the community
Specialist Learning Disabilities Health Team.
