In order to support us on our journey, the Digital Transformation Directorate is currently seeking a forward thinking and enthusiastic IT Clinical Systems Support Analyst to join our Clinical Systems Management team in the Digital Operations Department.

It is expected that you will have previous experience working at the required level with clinical IT systems in a large, complex environment/organisation and be able to provide an excellent standard of user support and systems configuration knowledge to complement our wider Digital team. You must be focused and committed to participating in a positive work environment, in which staff will be supported to flourish and grow.

Main duties of the job

This is on a full-time, permanent basis, focusing primarily on user and technical support in relation to IT clinical systems. This will include technical duties such as security administration, interfacing monitoring and configuration, fault-finding and carrying out system testing from an end-user perspective, providing a key role by supporting end-user representation in user groups and projects.

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff in terms easily understood.
  • Ability to record and analyse information from disparate sources to enable diagnosis of problems within information systems.
  • Ability to negotiate with relevant parties to resolve issues.
  • Ability to undertake/recommend appropriate action as required (seeking guidance where appropriate).
  • Skilled in identifying and highlighting data quality issues.
  • Keyboard skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative.
  • Ability to carry out planned out of hours work from time to time e.g. new release final acceptance testing.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma level education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a clinical IT environment using complex patient/ clinical systems and complex data sets.
Desirable criteria
  • ITIL Qualification.
  • ECDL or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Detailed knowledge of PAS or other IT clinical systems configurations.
  • Experience supporting large, complex clinical systems.
  • Experience of organising meetings.
  • Ability to carry out IT clinical system testing in a structured manner.
  • Ability to plan project tasks within the framework of a formal Project structure.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Application of IT systems in a healthcare environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of relevant IT management issues and techniques e.g. system change control, user acceptance, helpdesk provision, service level agreements, security standards & data protection.
  • Experience of working within the NHS acute hospital environment.
  • Experience of deploying new features from clinical IT Systems
  • Supplier Interaction.
