Job overview

A rare opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Trust’s expanding Data Quality Assurance Team.

You will be joining the Team at an exciting time and will be instrumental in driving forward data quality improvements across the Trust.  You will take a lead role in managing the root cause analysis (RCA) development and action planning related to long waiting patients found through patient pathway validation, including working closely with Clinicians to determine harm, ensure learning and mitigating risk of harm to patients going forward.

Following a recent expansion the Data Quality Assurance Team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises of a Data Quality Assurance Manager, an Assistant Data Quality Assurance Manager, RTT Trainer, 2 x Data Quality Assurance Team Leaders, a Data Quality Assurance Harm Lead, 3 Data Quality Assurance Business Partners and 18 Data Quality Assurance Officers, working across all sites.

The Department offers a flexi-time scheme.

Main duties of the job

The main duties include taking the lead role in the ongoing development and implementation of efficient and effective processes for the management of risk / harm related to long waiting patients found through patient pathway validation and any related learning – utilising project management methodologies, including the use of project management software and Qi for continuous service improvement.

You will take a lead and have a pro-active role within the Data Quality Assurance Team to support the Clinical Division(s) in achieving ‘right first time’ to ensure that the Trust has high quality assured data for performance reporting and to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care for patients.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a related role (such as Data Quality Assurance)
  • Qi Training Course or Service Improvement experience
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of other Trust systems

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant NHS Experience in a relevant field, such as a patient administration or data quality / assurance role.
  • Experience of successfully implementing demonstrable changes and improvements in processes, utilising project management methodology .
  • Experience of successfully working at a minimum level of a Team Leader with line management responsibilities within a relevant field.
  • Experience of carrying out all P&OD line manager related activities including recruitment and appraisals.
  • Expert understanding and application of Referral to Treatment (RTT) principles to complex scenarios.
  • Significant experience in using a range of hospital administration and clinical systems to an expert level, including Patient Administration Systems (PAS).
  • Experience of using, finding and interpreting relevant information, including clinical information, in hospital case notes / electronic patient records.
  • Strong ability to analyse and interpret complex data held within core systems.
  • Experience in data analysis and visual presentation of results.
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical pathways.
  • Experience of undertaking data assurance audits using audit methodologies.
  • Experience of developing local policies and SOPs and developing monitoring for ensuring compliance.
  • Significant experience of preparing training materials and delivering training to small and large groups.
