Job overview
A two-year Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. Gain hands-on experience in Dispensary, Ward, and Aseptic areas through structured rotations.
On completion, we’ll support your GPhC registration. You must be organised, meet deadlines, and work well both independently and in a team. A rotation plan across both sites will guide your training.
Minimum entry: 4 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), including English, Maths, and Science. Full training provided in safe, effective patient care—covering dispensing (including automated systems), medicines reconciliation, ward work, and aseptic preparation.
Training includes 3.5 days on-the-job and 1.5 days off-the-job for distance learning. You’ll also complete the Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
Main duties of the job
- Dispense prescriptions and prepare medicines under supervision, following SOPs.
- Assist with stock control across pharmacy areas and wards.
- Support pharmacy services and departmental operations Trust-wide.
- Maintain records, follow GMP and safety standards.
- Work across sites as needed for training.
- Uphold professional conduct and comply with the Learning Agreement.
- Engage fully in all apprenticeship learning opportunities

- Previous experience working within hospital and/or community pharmacy
