Full-time, substantive post
Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) is a medium sized Foundation Trust with big ambitions. We’re aiming to be in the top 10% for everything we do. To get there we are improving our organisation to be more suited to how patients use our services. We serve a population of over 420,000 people across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
Supported by both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield, and with approval from NHS Improvement, we have now attained Teaching Hospital status which will enable us to further enhance education and training capacity, grow research capability and improve the recruitment and retention of high quality staff across all professions.
The Trust welcomes applications for one Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine.
This post forms part of a large team of 12 respiratory physicians across two main hospital inpatient sites plus outpatient services at Montagu Hospital in Mexborough.
The post holder will be supported by ward-based junior medical staff and will share the work with several consultant colleagues. The appointee will support a team of General Physicians who contribute to the acute general medical work on a 1 in 18 rota at DRI.
The respiratory physicians at DRI, work generically in teams. This allows the team members to provide consistent daily ward input, allows safer cover for any absence and provides continuous peer support and review. Informal support and mentoring is available by arrangement with the Divisional Director, formal mentoring is also available on request.
We particularly encourage applications from those with a special skill in thoracoscopy or advanced bronchoscopy techniques including EBUS or with an interest in sleep medicine.
The Trust offers an excellent pension scheme and is perfectly positioned, with the major regional centers of Nottingham, Leeds and Sheffield on our doorstep. The Robin Hood International Airport is also in close proximity to the Trust, flying to destinations in Europe and the USA. There is access to delightful countryside in North Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire, excellent leisure facilities and low cost housing.
If you are interested in this post and have MRCP or equivalent and are on the Specialist Register or you are eligible for award of CCT within 6 months of the interview date, we would be delighted to hear from you.
