Opportunity for Permeant Night working Crisis Practitioner
This is an exciting opportunity to transform the way in which Children and Young People’s Emergency & Urgent Care is experienced by CYP and those who care for them across Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber. As part of the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 – 2023/24, RDaSH has undertaken the development of a crisis response services for CYP.
We are currently recruiting a number of enthusiastic and motivated clinicians to RDash's newly formed CYP Crisis Team. These dynamic team members will form part of our skilled, multidisciplinary team, and will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the service. Clinicians will be offered the opportunity to develop skills and experience in this area through the induction process, internal training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and supervision.
Main duties of the job
The service operates 24/7 to provide crisis mental health assessment and interventions in a range of settings. This role is permanent nights working 19:00 - 07:00 hrs, within the service, negotiation for day working as required to be agreed to ensure wellbeing, training, and supervision are maintained annually whilst ensuring that we meet the requirements of the service.
Clinical knowledge and relevant experience of assessing and managing risk within a mental health or social care setting is essential. Continuing support and development opportunities will be provided.
Key components of the role include comprehensive mental health risk assessment, planning crisis interventions, providing 7 day follow ups and appropriately safeguarding young people. You will work collaboratively to promote safety and support young people and their family/carers through face-to-face work, via the Crisis Line and by utilising technology. The post also involves liaison with other services and external agencies to ensure effective pathways of care.
This is an extremely rewarding but challenging role. You will be working as part of a team and you will need a high level of emotional resilience to support young people and families at times of distress. You may also be required to work alone at times and need to prioritise work to be flexible to meet the needs of the service. It is also essential that you have the ability to travel in order to attend assessments.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist
- Current professional registration
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Must have demonstrable experience of a registered practitioner
- Risk assessment and management training
Desirable criteria
- Specialist Qualification in CBT, FT or other appropriate therapy Degree or equivalent
- Supervision training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Mental health care/treatment relevant to service
- Demonstrable experience of case managing people presenting in mental health crisis
- Substantial experience of leading in risk assessment and risk management planning
- Co-producing care plans and crisis plans alongside client and families
