Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist qualification or Social Work with current registration
Current professional registration
Experience and training relevant to the management and assessment of risk

Desirable criteria

Specialist Qualification in CBT, FT or other appropriate therapy Degree or equivalent
A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision
Supervision training
Evidence of continued professional development

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of delivering assessment, care and treatment within mental health services
Demonstratable experience in supporting patients presenting in mental health crisis and working autonomously
Experience of completing clinical risk assessments and offering support and management of presenting risks.
Managing and prioritising a complex caseload

Desirable criteria

Experience of working within a crisis service
Working with service users and carers in service improvement

Knowledge

Essential criteria

High level of problem solving and planning skills
Effective communication skills with all disciplines and agencies to optimise patient management
Awareness of own competency level and how to seek appropriate help
Understanding of confidentiality and risk management
Clinical audit, research and clinical governance principles
Have a good understanding of child protection/safeguarding policies, recording and reporting any concerns to the appropriate agency including participate in case conferences as required

High assessor role satisfaction by improving the experience of delivering assessments. For example, we are building an AI tool to streamline diagnostic report writing, which we know is a pressure of the role.

You will be a Senior Assessor within our multidisciplinary assessment team, delivering:

Remote developmental histories and child observations (via video calls)
Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
