Job overview
The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Partnership fully integrates the pathology services delivered on behalf of the Partner Trusts within the Integrated Care System (ICS) footprint; Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
The Pathology Partnership will provide the best possible service for patients and clinicians; improving health outcomes, delivering quality and efficiency benefits and ensuring a sustainable workforce for the longer term.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, suitably qualified individuals to provide a daily clerical support service within the Histopathology Department within South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology. The post holder will provide a range of administrative and secretarial support in this busy and interesting department.
The successful candidate will have effective secretarial and computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, you should be able to work on your own initiative in prioritising workload and meeting deadlines, whilst also being able to work in a team.
Full in-service training will be provided. The successful candidate will be based in the Histopathology Department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
Provide an efficient and effective clerical support service within the Histopathology Department including to the Histopathology laboratory and Consultant Histopathologists.
Carry out routine administrative and clerical duties for the department, ensuring standards are maintained and deadlines are met.
Be a first point of contact for all direct enquiries (including telephone enquiries), ensure these are acted upon appropriately.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE at Grade C/4 in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications) or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level II in Business Administration / Customer Service / IT
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within an office or laboratory environment
- Experience of working in a public facing role.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience within the NHS.
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of / experience of using information and/or customer service systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience Infoflex / 59R Software
- Previous experience of PAS / Infoflex / SystmOne (area specific software)
