Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist committed to delivering high quality care to join our elective orthopaedic service at Mexborough Elective Orthopaedic Centre.   
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) working in partnership with Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BH) and The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) are opening a dedicated orthopaedic hub for the people of South Yorkshire, with health professionals undertaking hip and knee replacement inpatient procedures alongside foot and ankle, hand and wrist, and shoulder day case surgery.

The Montagu Elective Orthopaedic Centre (MEOC) facility will feature two state-of-the-art theatre units, two anaesthetic rooms and a recovery suite, in addition to 12 inpatient beds. 

Main duties of the job

As an experienced Physiotherapist, you will provide high quality clinical care for patients presenting with a variety of orthopaedic elective surgeries, providing a comprehensive assessment, decision making, provision of treatment, evaluation of care and referral to other healthcare professionals if required. 

We expect that you will be fully dedicated to person-centred care and that you will work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that patients receive high quality therapy intervention and discharge planning.

To be part of our team the successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner have recent experience of caring for patients in an acute setting, have excellent leadership and clinical skills, as well as evidence of continuing professional development, have drive, ambition, passion, a flexible approach and dedicated to working in this modern, high quality environment supporting best practice for orthopaedic patients following GIRFT recommendations.

There may also be opportunities to gain experience through rotation within the wider Orthopaedic Therapy team at DBTH within our existing elective and trauma pathways.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist in a broad range of areas including relevant experience in Orthopaedics/ Acute in patient.
  • Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of networking within physiotherapy and in the wider Health & Social Care community.
  • Experience in clinical audit, research and effectiveness.
  • Clinical education and development of physiotherapy staff and other members of the MDT.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Elective care pathways
  • Leadership experience.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in physiotherapy
  • Current registration with the Health Care Professional Council.
  • Understanding and knowledge of clinical governance issues within own clinical practice and wider implications for delivery of patient services.
  • Portfolio evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience and CPD.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses.
