Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the psychosis team, assertive outreach pathway as a Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse. The right candidate will be enthusiastic and a highly organised mental health professional who is able to provide high quality nursing care, assessment and treatment. 

The Psychosis Team is inclusive of The Psychosis Pathway, Assertive Outreach, At Risk Mental State, Early Intervention in Psychosis. This role will be based in the assertive outreach pathway.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive Community Mental Health Nursing Service across a whole range of clients experiencing mental ill health within the assertive outreach pathway.  The service will be delivered in collaboration with representatives from other agencies and therefore the ability to work independently and with partner agencies is essential.

It is essential that applicants can demonstrate post registration experience as an RMN, which may include inpatient and community settings.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current registration as a level one Mental Health nurse/RMN
  • Willingness to undertake additional training relevant to the role
  • Evidence of post registration training and experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable post registration experience as an RMN
  • Professional experience of working in mental health services
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Skills in coordinating and planning interagency approaches in mental health care
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use initiative and work without immediate supervision
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework for mental health services, particularly the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act & NICE Guidelines.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding, empathic approach
  • Skills in co-ordinating and planning interagency approaches in mental health care
  • Excellent report-writing skills IT skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multiprofessional team
