Crucible Pharmacy Limited (CPL), a dynamic and forward-thinking wholly owned subsidiary of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH), is looking for a new Pharmacy Assistant to join our friendly pharmacy team at our Royal Hallamshire Hospital outpatient pharmacy .
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Pharmacy Assistant, ideally NVQ Level 2 Dispensing Assistant qualified. This position is available with a  starting salary of  £26,054 p.a. if NVQ2 qualified, preferably full time with an excellent benefits package including competitive annual leave and an annual bonus. 

Please note the post holder will be employed by Crucible Pharmacy Limited and not Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to: 

  • liaise with patients, hospital staff and delivery partners to ensure timely home deliveries of medicines
  • undertake basic level CMM computer work after suitable training
  • calculate varying degrees of complex doses and quantities to supply on prescriptions
  • work on reception, taking in and handing out prescriptions, taking payment and dealing with customer queries
  • receive and check pharmaceuticals delivered to established procedures, being aware of health and safety regulations. Ensuring that security and storage requirements are maintained throughout
  • ensure that pharmaceuticals are stored correctly, stock is rotated, and expiry dates are checked to established procedures
  • assist in monitoring stock levels and completing stock-take procedures where a high level of accuracy is required.

Crucible Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) is owned by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust but operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary providing pharmacy services to outpatients from two dispensaries covering all of the trust sites.  It provides a dispensing service for inpatient discharge prescriptions including compliance aids and has new, state of the art, outpatient dispensaries  featuring the latest technology in automated dispensing systems.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • English and Maths GCSE grade 4 (C) or above / equivalent qualification
  • General Pharmaceutical Council approved qualification e.g. NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services / BTec level 2

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to use computer systems including Microsoft packages
  • Experience of using pharmacy-based computer systems
  • Previous experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience / knowledge of the principles of stock control

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently using own initiative
  • Able to deal constructively with conflict, complaints, and verbal aggression
  • Reliable, trustworthy and punctual demonstrable from previous experience
