Fixed term: 12 months | 30hrs per week
Join our supportive, multidisciplinary Sheffield Eating Disorders Assessment and Treatment Team (SEDATT), part of CAMHS. We specialise in the assessment and evidence-based treatment of children and young people with eating disorders, often presenting with complex comorbidities.
As a CBT Therapist, you will deliver specialist interventions, contribute to MDT care planning, and support service development through supervision, consultation, and collaborative working.
What You'll Bring:

Doctoral-level training in Clinical Psychology, or be a qualified RMN, Social Worker, Art Therapist, or Family Therapist

CBT accreditation with the BABCP, with a focus on work with children and young people

Registration with the HCPC (or other relevant professional body)

Experience delivering specialist CBT assessments and therapeutic interventions to young people
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Lead Professional in CAMHS, your responsibilities will include:

Deliver high-quality, specialist Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBP) to individuals and groups across a variety of settings.

Conduct specialist assessments and evidence-based interventions for young people with eating disorders and complex comorbidities such as depression and OCD.

Provide consultation and advice to colleagues and non-professional carers, working autonomously within guidelines and service policies.

Work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to care planning, risk management, and ongoing case discussions.

Supervise and support CAMHS clinicians and CYP-IAPT trainees in CBP.

Use research skills to support audits, service development, and quality improvement projects within the service.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or RMN /RN (mental health) or a fully qualified social worker or fully qualified art therapist or family therapist.
- CBT accreditation with the BABCP – with a focus on CBT with children and young adults
- Registration with the HPC as a Clinical Psychologist, or other relevant professional body.
Desirable criteria
- Additional training in CBP with children and in young people with ASD.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist CBP assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with psychological and mental health problems and their families in physical health settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems across the full age range, reflecting all levels of severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- Commitment to multi-disciplinary team working – team player
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within the area of specialty
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience of the application of CBP in different cultural contexts.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills in working with complex cases and being able to use CBP in an integrated way with other interventions if necessary
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional & non professional groups
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
- Formal training in supervision of other therapists.
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multimedia materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
- Commitment and competencies in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
