We have an exciting new role in the team -Pharmacy Lead for Research and Development. It is a part time role. You will be the lead in the pharmacy team in supporting the Research and Development team. The Research and Development team has been growing, and exciting new opportunities for the staff to be involved in clinical trials are arising .

Main duties of the job

Pharmacy Lead responsible on Research and Development of clinical trials.

  • Be first point of pharmacy contact for research trial sponsors and CROs
  • Lead and facilitate pharmacy aspects of Pre-site selection visits, Site Initiation visits, monitoring and close out visits.
  • Oversight and management of pharmacy related clinical trials income
  • Working with RDU and medical colleagues to identify areas of research priorities in respect of Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs) and other related trials.
  • Contribute to the assessment and feasibility of delivery of clinical trials within SHSC (where applicable)
  • Attend local / regional pharmacy research networks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • As part of the pharmacy service, to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines throughout the Trust.
  • Supporting the Chief Pharmacist in ensuring that effective medicines systems operate throughout the Trust.
  • To be the pharmacy lead responsible for research and development of clinical trials.
  • Reviewing the feasibility of proposed clinical trials considering the pharmacy aspect. Oversight of expenditure and reimbursement for the pharmacy team for clinical trials (Research and Development (R&D)).
  • As a clinical pharmacist within the trials team, the post-holder will ensure that all pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials validation including digital systems are built in accordance with good clinical practice (GCP); good manufacturing practice (GMP); statutory national and international standards; and clinical need.
  • Support the coordination of local response in a timely manner, working closely with the: clinical and research teams; Pharmacy; Sponsors; and R&D department.
