Location: hybrid working 50/50 office at Distington House and home working.

Hours: 37.5 hours/Full time hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive full-time post within Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. Are you interested in being part of the SHSC Safeguarding team and enhancing your skills and knowledge in Safeguarding and being part of safeguarding team that supports and protects service users?

The SHSC Safeguarding Team are currently looking for a RMN/RN or Social worker to work as part of our safeguarding team

Main duties of the job

To provide advice and support to all SHSC staff, review all safeguarding concerns raised by SHSC staff, attend the daily incident safety huddle and assess safeguarding incidents, support the Sheffield MASH and co-deliver safeguarding  training. The Safeguarding Practitioner will also support the Named Nurse Safeguarding Children and Named Professional Safeguarding Adults with audits, quality improvement projects and will attend some partnership meetings as appropriate for the role.

You will need to have a good level of safeguarding knowledge and understand the statutory legal criteria (Care Act 2014). You will need to have experience of safeguarding work such as working with service users with complex needs, providing safeguarding advice to others and be compliant with Level 3 Safeguarding Adult and Children training. It would be desirable if you have also completed some additional domestic abuse training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·       Assess all internal safeguarding concerns against the statutory legal criteria and the Local Authority Summary of Responsibilities Document

·       Liaise with the Local Authority and the referrer when safeguarding concerns are referred to support information gathering and sharing decision making.

·       Complete checks and share information for all cases known to SHSC to the adult multi agency safeguarding hub (MASH).

·       Attend the Daily Incident Safety Huddle (DISH), review incidents notified to the safeguarding team and provide actions and advice to trust staff in response. Escalate any incidents which require further review by Adult Safeguarding Named Professional, Named Nurse Safeguarding Children or Head of Safeguarding.

·       Maintain computer held care records in an accurate and timely fashion.

·       Collect and collate relevant data.

·       Support the completion of the team workplan and team audit plan.

·       Contribute to the completion of the annual safeguarding report.

·       Provide advice and support to Trust staff when required.

·       Organise/attend/participate in safeguarding/professionals’ meetings as appropriate.

·       Support development and delivery of safeguarding training.

·       Provide a point of contact for external agencies with regards to information sharing for safeguarding purposes, service provision, collaborative working, and risk management.
