Job overview

Do you have a strong background in administrative support and an interest in developing your experience in corporate governance within a high-performing team?

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised administrator to join the Chief Executive’s Office, where you will provide flexible business, project and administrative support across a portfolio of corporate meetings and governance functions that help oversee how we operate as an organisation.

Strong corporate governance is essential to supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care across our hospitals and services, ensuring that decisions are taken with the right oversight, accountability and focus on the best interests of our patients.

As part of the Chief Executive’s Office team of Business Managers and Personal Assistants, you will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the Trust, supporting corporate and strategic development, special projects, and the effective management of key governance processes.

Main duties of the job

In this varied and rewarding role, you will provide high-quality administrative and co-ordination support within the Chief Executive’s Office, helping to ensure the smooth running of business activity, formal meetings and corporate governance processes. You will play an important part in supporting diaries, meeting and secretariat arrangements, preparing papers and records, responding to enquiries, managing correspondence, and maintaining accurate systems and information. You will also contribute to projects, research and service improvement work, build positive working relationships with colleagues across the Trust, and provide flexible support across the team to help deliver a professional, responsive and well-organised service.

Main duties will include:

  • Provide high-quality administrative and co-ordination support within the Chief Executive’s Office.
  • Support formal meetings and corporate governance processes, including preparing papers, agendas and action tracking.
  • Manage diaries, correspondence and enquiries for senior colleagues, ensuring a professional and responsive service.
  • Maintain accurate records, systems and documentation, while supporting reports, projects and service improvement work.
  • Build effective working relationships across the Trust and provide flexible cross-cover within the team

Working for our organisation

The closing date for applications is 25 June 2026

Please note the recruitment process for this vacancy is in two stages:

  1. An assessment centre on 7 July 2026 (this will be at Rivermead Training Centre at the Northern General Hospital site)
  2. A formal interview on 9 July 2026 (this will be held at 8 Beech Hill Road, Royal Hallamshire Hospital site)

If you are successful at the assessment centre stage, you will be invited to attend the interview. Please check that you are available on both dates before applying.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

We are looking for someone who is committed to high standards, brings proven experience in administrative or business support, and is confident building effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.

While your main base will be at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, the role may also require travel across our other sites. We are also supportive of flexible working arrangements, including some homeworking where service needs allow.

If you would like to find out more about the role, we would be pleased to hear from you for an informal conversation.
