Job overview

Are you interested in joining an innovative, high profile dietetic team.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic rotational dietitian to join Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The dietetic team consists of over 50 Dietitians, plus dietetic assistants and admin staff across 3 hospital sites and Sheffield community. STH is one of the largest Trusts in the country.

These rotational posts provide opportunities to work at different hospital sites including the Northern General Hospital, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Weston Park Oncology Centre and Community Dietetics.

You will gain a broad experience of acute teaching hospital and community settings. Your clinical commitments in the acute rotations will be a variety of medical, surgical or oncology wards, and will include an outpatient clinic.  We are actively involved in dietetic student training with Sheffield Hallam University.

Applicants will possess BSc Nutrition and Dietetics (or equivalent) and must be HCPC registered. However, we would welcome applications from Dietetic students who will be eligible for HCPC on completion of studies.  Excellent communication skills and effective team working skills are essential.

CPD is actively encouraged, with opportunities to attend accredited post registration courses and in-house training.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the provision of high quality dietetic services to a clinical caseload in a designated area, using skills and knowledge as an independent practitioner.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of evidence based clinical and teaching practice.
  • To work with their supervisor and Dietetic team leader in assisting in the operational management of the department.
  • To assist the dietetic management team to ensure the overall service provides high quality patient care, and in the management of clinical governance, resources and equipment.
  • To actively participate in development, education and delivery of training to dietetic students.

Working for our organisation

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 12 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
