Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic team player with proven admin skills. You need to be flexible and reliable to provide efficient and effective Admin duties supporting the multi-disciplinary team within GRaDE supporting our winter beds wards; Huntsman 2 and Huntsman 6. We are seeking confident individuals with excellent communication skills and a professional, tactful and diplomatic approach to work within our busy department.  

This is a demanding but interesting and varied role. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work as part of a team and the initiative to work unsupervised when necessary. An understanding of confidentiality is essential as well as a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. 

Previous hospital experience including knowledge of Connect would be desirable. Effective communication skills and excellent keyboard skills are also essential.  Full training for this post will be provided.

The post will be at the Northern General Hospital and a flexible approach to a working  is required. 

Main duties of the job

To support the Nursing and Medical teams with the provision of a comprehensive administration service. 

Working Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm

Maintain the Patient Administration and provide admin support to the wards, nursing staff and managers.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis until 31/03/26 due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project’s implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE at Grade C/4 in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications) or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level II in Business Administration / Customer Service / IT

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within an office environment
  • Experience of working in a public facing role.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant experience within the NHS

Training

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of / experience of using information and/or customer service systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience Infoflex / 59R Software
  • Previous experience of PAS / Infoflex / SystmOne (area specific software)

Skills and Knoweldge

  • Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
