Job overview

We are looking to appoint a LAS Speciality Register to join our Gastroenterology team. The appointment is to commence ASAP for a fixed term period for 11 months until August 2027. MBChB or equivalent is essential.  The post does not award a National Training Number.  As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST1 Level.

If further vacancies arise shortlisted candidates may be considered

Main duties of the job

The post is not a formally approved training post (i.e. it does not hold NTN status). However, it is possible that some of the clinical components of the post may be recognised as counting towards training in gastroenterology/hepatology (to be negotiated with the Training Programme Director).

The clinical duties will constitute provision of inpatient care on our 28 bedded wards at the Northern General site (Robert Hadfield 3 and 4). The Gastroenterology and Hepatology consultants will supervise this clinical service. There is a requirement for work at the Royal Hallamshire site in supporting the day case unit (Clinical Investigations Unit, P floor) on a rotational basis with the training level Foundation Year 2 and IMT doctors.

Some flexibility will be required in the event of sickness but it is unlikely this role will involve travelling between sites.

There is a routine Acute General Medicine FY2/IMT on-call commitment.
