Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Integrated Care Team -Therapy for Band 3 Senior Therapy Assistant in the West of Sheffield. The Therapy Team assess and offer person centred rehabilitation for people referred from various sources: the Hospital, GPs, District Nurses, other Health and Social Care teams. ICT Therapy treat people from the age of 16 to older adults with a variety of conditions and therapy needs in their home environment.

Senior Therapy Assistants work with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, to carry out rehabilitation programmes and manage their own patient caseload. They are supported by the team and have regular training and supervision.

The successful applicant should have extensive and relevant experience of working in rehabilitation in the NHS, have NVQ III in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Care or Health and Social Care (with therapy specific units) or equivalent qualifications or experience.  The applicant must have daily access to a car and have a valid driving license.

This is a seven-day service and covers weekends and Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

To assist the interdisciplinary team in the provision of patient centred care.

To implement packages of care and rehabilitation programmes in the community and complete patient records.

Undertake assessment of patients within departmental guidelines.

To assist the interdisciplinary team in maintaining an efficient working environment.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths or equivalent qualification /experience.
  • Level III NVQ in Health and Social Care/ OR diagnostic and therapeutic support or equivalent relevant qualification /experience.
  • Demonstrate commitment to life long learning via personal development file.
Desirable criteria
  • IT training/qualifications or equivalent

Special skills

Essential criteria
  • Due to the requirement to undertake visits and transport non-portable equipment, the post holder is required to be either car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to an alternative means of transport.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience of either, working in rehabilitation in NHS e.g. as a therapy assistant or a rehabilitation assistant/ assistant practitioner or another rehabilitation setting
  • To have worked independently managing own patient/client list.
  • Experience of liaising with other agencies, services and professional colleagues.
Desirable criteria
  • To have worked in the community setting
