Main duties of the job
Work as an important member of the Multidisciplinary Team within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust providing specialist nursing advice and support to patients and their family, throughout the care pathway.
The post holder will utilise skills of clinical expertise, education, and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers, and staff providing advice, support, and information.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and across the community to ensure a coordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit, and research.
The post holder will engage and lead discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings and ensure a high quality, holistic approach to the management of the patient’s pathway is maintained.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 6 months due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project’s implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Nursing Degree (undertaken or working towards)
- To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Evidence of post registered education relevant to the role
- Evidence of Management and Leadership development
- Evidence of managing change
- Registered Nurse (Valid with NMC)
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading and managing a team
- Completion of NMP course or actively working towards
- Management or leadership training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience at Band 5 within cancer services or relevant autonomous nursing role within acute care
- Experience within an acute NHS setting of caring for patients with cancer.
- Evidence of applying research and audit in practice
- Evidence of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Evidence of policy and protocol development
Desirable criteria
- Relevant NHS experience at Sister/Charge Nurse or equivalent involving the care of patient with cancer.
- Evidence of policy and protocol development
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Completion of Intravenous drug administration training competences
- Experience of caring for patients with peripheral and central lines in-situ
- Completion of peripheral/PICC line insertion training or willingness to complete.
- Competent in phlebotomy or willingness to complete.
- Post registration experience of managing patients with Cancer
