We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and motivated pharmacy assistant to join our expanding Clinical Trials Team.  The role will support us to develop and enhance the provision of pharmacy clinical trials, enabling the timely provision of investigational medicinal products within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

 

The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and dispensing of clinical trial prescriptions to ensure that the service is provided promptly and efficiently in line with GCP.

They will provide support to the pharmacy clinical trials service and the dispensary to ensure trials are appropriately managed, set-up and closed-down, processing amendments, and maintaining site files. 

They will safely provide a patient focused, effective and efficient pharmacy trials service, involving ordering, storage and supply of medication to meet the needs of the patients involved in trials.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Pharmacy Services Skills Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
  • Evidence of short courses / qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience in supervision of staff.
  • Evidence of a leadership qualification or willing to work towards and complete e.g. NHS Team Leader Training Level 3 programme.
  • Microsoft Office Packages – evidence of short courses or relevant experience
  • Successful completion of or willingness to complete Pharmacy Dispensary training packages e.g. labelling and dispensing, reception duties, stock control.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant GCP training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within hospital pharmacy and using pharmacy-based computer systems.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills demonstrable from previous experience working within pharmacy.
  • Experience of working with automated dispensing systems
  • Staff development / training/teaching experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of undertaking appraisals / performance reviews / sickness absence reviews.

  • Ability to communicate effectively demonstrable from experience (both written and oral)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to form positive relationships.
