Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available to be a Band 6 Physiotherapist within the Neurology Outreach Therapy team.
Our NOTS team comprises of both Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists supporting patients in the community within Sheffield. They provide therapeutic guidance and interventions for patients with progressive neurological conditions. The therapists work as a ‘Key worker’ providing holistic care and support for the MND patient caseload and work closely with the wider MDT.
The post-holder will work alongside the Band 7 Physiotherapist and Band 6 Occupational Therapists providing:
Initial assessments and ongoing treatment sessions within patients own homes.
Therapeutic interventions to support patients’ independence and maintain their quality of life.
Supporting patients with advance care planning.
Support at various MDT clinics providing advice, orthoses and equipment.
Providing hydrotherapy sessions.
Main duties of the job
You must be able to demonstrate:
Experience in core areas of Physiotherapy including Neurology and ideally community based working.
Experience managing a complex neurological caseload.
Experience managing spasticity
Evidence of continuing personal and professional development.
Excellent communication and team-working skills.
Applicants must be a car driver and have access to a car for work.
Opportunities:
This post offers excellent personal and professional development opportunities within well-established services. The post holder will be supported by senior staff to carry a clinical caseload, provide assessment and intervention, utilising their clinical reasoning skills. This role will also include attending/supporting MDT clinics and assisting with hydrotherapy. The post holder will have opportunities to supervise students and to contribute to the development of the service.
Therapy Services provides a number of services over 7 days (including Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays). If successful candidates are internal and already contribute to a 7 day roster they will be expected to continue to contribute to these rosters as part of their contracted hours.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of for 9 months until 31/08/2026. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

- BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent
- HCPC registration
Experience

- Post-registration NHS experience as a Physiotherapist
- Post-registration knowledge and skill to manage a complex specialist caseload in the relevant clinical speciality applied for
- Clear demonstration of understanding of NHS admission/referral/rehabilitation pathways for respiratory patients
- Experience and skills in teaching and development of staff and students
