An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of a Cancer tracker within Specialised Cancer Services.

Do you have excellent administration skills, a good eye for detail and the tenacity to 'go that extra mile?' The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will provide expertise in the proactive administrative management from referral to treatment or discharge.

Working closely in a team of cancer trackers and the wider A&C teams to  track patients through their cancer pathway ensuring accurate data collection, escalations and being part of a team to help improve and streamline cancer pathways within Weston Park Hospital. The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues and knowledge relating to patients cancer pathways, working alongside consultants and other disciplines of clinical staff and A&C staff/management.

The job may have the flexibility of Home and office working but this will be agreed after a period of training and an agreed confidence in the work being done correctly.

Main duties of the job

  • Cancer tracking for all tumour sites within oncology for specialised cancer services (Weston Park Hospital) and haematology if emergency cover is needed, to monitor and streamline  patients’ progress on the cancer pathways to ensure diagnostic procedures and treatments are planned to meet the patients’ needs and the NHS England Waiting times.
  • Regular use of Infoflex to record activity and cancer waiting times and ensure patients are on the correct pathway and diagnostics/treatments are brought forward where possible to reduce patient delays.
  • Ensure treatment requests are completed daily with valid breach dates
  • Clear data quality reports to ensure accuracy of pathways are met 
  • Collect and input data to support validation and audits 
  • Complete and submit breach reports for analysis
  • Complete datix's for 104 day breaches
  • Act as a point of knowledge for the wider team 
  • Work and communicate as a team to help patients
  • Tracking and monitor 62 day, 31 day and 31 subsequent pathways 
  • Regular communication to lead regarding issues or escalations and work progress

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade A-C or equivalent qualification
  • IT qualification NVQ 2 or equivalent demonstrable experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL qualification or equivalent qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of handling and interpreting reports
  • Experience of dealing with and validating patient pathways and a knowledge of Cancer Wait Times and Targets and RTT 18-week standards
  • Demonstrable experience of using, interpreting and acting up on the Trust’s data error reports and using these to improve data quality.
  • Experience of using the trusts computer systems, in particular Lorenzo and infoflex
  • Relevant Previous NHS experience or of working in a health care environment
  • Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team and independently
Desirable criteria
  • Competent in using database packages
  • Experience of working in a medical specialty or with cancer data collection
  • Experience of the following IT systems: G2, ChemoCare, Infoflex, Aria, ICE, Summary Care Record, Medical Imaging, and Pinpoint, ewhiteboard, sharepoint
  • Experience/knowledge of maintaining a cancer waiting times ptl
  • Evidence of personal development/building knowledge within the healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and cancer treatments
