Senior Sister/Charge Nurse

The post holder will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practise and standards of care. Providing clinical leadership to the ward nursing team and providing direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will be an identifiable senior clinical staff member, and team leader. They will have significant clinical experience, provide sound clinical expertise to their team, and coordinate and deliver high quality care.
They will be a professional role model for expert clinical care, and lead on specific projects / management functions as delegated by the Lead Nurse. They will role model the identified Trust values at all times. They will lead a team of staff, providing support and leadership to junior sisters/charge nurses, junior registered nurses including students, HCAs and colleagues from other disciplines
They will be activity involved in Unit and Trust activities and be aware of significant changes and developments in general surgery. The post holder will be accountable for the operational management of the ward on a day by day basis ensuring a safe, effective quality service is delivered to patients and their families.

The role requires you to lead and manage a team of nurses with varied skills and experience. You must have energy and enthusiasm to oversee the delivery of safe and effective care, explore new and innovative ways of working to drive forward the Trusts` Strategic Priorities and Annual Objectives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high standards of patient care, providing supervision and leadership to a team with a diverse range of experience and skills. You will be expected to be a role model for the team and committed to improving patient outcomes. You will be a strong and effective leader, be able to ensure a smooth patient journey planning and delivering appropriate care for admissions and discharges, quickly identifying clinical problems and taking appropriate actions as well as deputising for the Matron in their absence.

- RGN Level one
- NMC registered
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Continuous professional development
- First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes)
Experience

- Extensive post registration experience
- Relevant experience at junior sister/ charge nurse role
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
