Job overview
We are recruiting an FI on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave within our At Risk Mental States team that we provide in conjunction with EPUT across South West Essex.
This vacancy will provide cover on a fixed term basis for Maternity Leave, as such we can only accept candidates who have already obtained post accreditation training in Family Intervention for Psychosis (FIp), (such as Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT), Systemic FI or cognitive behavioural FI)
The post-holder, as a senior member of the team may provide consultation to colleagues, ad-hoc supervision and contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings.
This post holder will provide high quality, specialised, evidence-based Family Intervention/ Behavioural Family Therapy to the families requiring input from the ARMS service.
The role will incorporate complex assessments leading to psychotherapeutic formulations; interpretation and use of assessment instruments; and the forming and delivery of intervention plans. The role will also entail offering advice and consultation on systemic working to colleagues and to professional and non-professional carers.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will hold their own caseload, supported by the appropriate clinical leads and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment, interventions and a coordinated service response for service users and their families.
- This role will incorporate complex assessments leading to psychotherapeutic formulations; interpretation and use of assessment instruments; and the forming and delivery of intervention plans. The role will also entail offering advice and consultation on systemic working to colleagues and to professional and non-professional carers.
- A key secondary role is in liaison and joint working with other professionals, especially members of Community Mental Health Teams, CAMHS, General Practice, schools, colleges, other healthcare settings, other professionals / workers and non-healthcare workers to maintain effective continuity of care and to widen awareness of the complexities involved in the management and treatment of first episode of psychosis particularly in young people.

- To provide specialist evidence-based systemic psychotherapy within the ARMS as part of the implementation of the NICE quality standards for the treatment and management of people with psychosis and schizophrenia.
- To offer and deliver family interventions to help support individuals and their families/carers to work together to cope and to reduce stress. Therefore, supporting a person’s overall recovery as part of a broad-based approach that combines different treatment options tailored to the needs of the individual.
- Where appropriate, to provide consultation on systemic working to relevant professional systems
- To develop and lead reflecting team practice with multidisciplinary colleagues as appropriate to both the service context and individual‘s and family’s needs.
- Drawing upon complex assessment material to provide verbal and written systemic formulations that aid evidence based clinical interventions for service users, families and other professionals. This will involve integrating and interpreting a range of complex material, across different contexts and at different levels of meaning.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified mental health professional
- Clinical Associate In Psychology Graduate (CAP qualified)
Desirable criteria
- PGDip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Practitioner Psychologist qualified (i.e. clinical/ counselling/ health/ forensic psychologist)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of working therapeutically with family members/ carers/ significant others of patients
