Main duties of the job
To provide clinical and operational support to dental clinicians within the Community Dental Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care to patients, including those with complex needs and limited access to mainstream dental services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Provide chairside assistance to dental clinicians during a full range of treatments.
Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control policies.
Decontaminate instruments and maintain equipment in line with national and Trust guidelines.
Take and/or process dental radiographs in accordance with IRMER regulations.
Provide support, reassurance, and care to patients, including those who are anxious, vulnerable, or have additional needs.
Assist clinicians in the treatment of patients under inhalation, intravenous sedation, or general anaesthesia, including monitoring and recovery processes.
Promote oral health and deliver basic oral hygiene advice where appropriate.
Ensure patients are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion always.
Support in the effective day-to-day delivery of dental clinic.
Ensure clinical areas are appropriately stocked and organised.
Work flexibly across multiple clinical sites.
Participate in out-of-hours, evening, weekend, and bank holiday services as required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised Dental Nursing qualification
- Current GDC registration
Desirable criteria
- Certificate in Conscious Sedation
- Certificate in Special Care Dentistry
- Certificate in Dental Radiography
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of a wide range of patient groups.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Experience of dealing with complaints and difficult situations.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with a dental IT system.
