Are you an experienced Consultant Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with a passion for leadership, service development & high-quality psychological care?
Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Care Group is seeking an inspiring Lead for Psychological Practice to provide strategic, professional leadership across our Adult MH services including Community, Specialist, Crisis, Mental Health Liaison, Dementia & Inpatient Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of psychological practice across a large & diverse CG. Working closely with the Lead for Psychological Practice in Family Services, CAMHS & Physical Health Psychology, you will champion psychologically informed care, provide expert guidance and ensure robust clinical governance across services.
We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychologist with strong influencing and communication skills, who can lead and inspire a vibrant psychological workforce. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders and Applied Psychologists to support strategic planning, service development and the delivery of excellent patient care while maintaining your own clinical practice within the Care Group.

Main duties of the job
- Clinical and governance responsibility for all psychological practice across the Care Group, providing strategic clinical leadership and direction in continual development and provision of excellence in applied psychology
- Be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
- Professionally responsible for delivery of the designated service across all localities.
- Accountable for own professional practice in delivery of highly specialist psychological care to clients with complex, severe and/or enduring mental health conditions or learning disabilities including significant challenging behaviours and risk of physical aggression.
- Lead Trust-wide development of service and represent the psychology profession on strategic groups, as agreed with the Managing Director and Director of Psychological Services.
- Represent psychology services at the General Management Team, Quality & Governance Sub-Committee and Mental Health QERG and ensure systematic governance of psychological practice
- Responsible for ensuring a coherent locality psychological leadership provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologists, with locality responsibilities.
- Responsible for ensuring the provision of effective teaching & training for all psychologists in the designated service. To act as a highly specialist resource in providing expert advice, clinical supervision & training to less experienced colleagues across the service & to other healthcare professionals and external agencies

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
- Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- HPC registration as a clinical/counselling psychologist with Chartered Status
Experience
Essential criteria
- Working as a qualified applied psychologist to consultant level within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.firmed
- Working at a strategic level on a range of clinical and management issues
- Providing clinical and professional leadership to other qualified and non-qualified members of the profession
