Pensions Advisor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Pensions Team as a Pensions Advisor.

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused professional with experience of working within an NHS pensions environment. You will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality pensions service, ensuring accurate administration and providing specialist guidance to staff and managers across a range of pension schemes.

Working closely with the Pensions Manager, you will support the day-to-day delivery of the service, including supervising and training Pension Officers, managing error handling and exception reporting, and resolving complex pension queries

The role includes maintaining pension records through Pensions Online, producing pension forecasts and pension modelling, and providing clear, impartial pension information to staff and managers. You will help employees understand pension regulations, benefits and retirement options.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex pension legislation in a clear and practical way. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, are essential.

This role offers hybrid working, combining home and office-based working, with attendance required for training, team meetings and service delivery requirements.

Main duties of the job

Deliver a comprehensive pensions administration service, providing information and guidance to staff and managers on the NHS Pension Scheme, NEST, Local Government Pension Scheme and other pension arrangements.

Manage complex pension processes including retirements, ill-health retirements, pension forecasts, pension modelling, benefit estimates, transfers and pension record maintenance through Pensions Online.

Support the day-to-day operation of the pensions service by investigating and resolving pension queries, managing exception reporting, maintaining data accuracy and liaising with NHS Pensions and other external organisations.

Provide technical support, training and quality assurance for Pension Officers, ensuring pension legislation, scheme regulations and local procedures are applied consistently and accurately.
