You will be an undergraduate student or have recently completed a relevant undergraduate degree (students with master's level degree or higher are not eligible). This 6-week internship is an opportunity to work within a multi -professional Research and Innovation department. You will work across our friendly and supportive academic and research delivery teams, supporting the life cycle of local research projects from design through to publication, as well as supporting the delivery of national research projects. You will be involved in research projects across a range of specialty areas within mental health and physical health. The internship will be hosted between July 6th and August 14th so you must be available for the entire period (Monday-Friday).
Main duties of the job
You will support Keele University and our Trust's academic team to carry out commissioned research and evaluation projects. Working as part of the Trust's research delivery team you will also work across a range of studies, including observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions, participating in the recruitment and follow up of patients to research studies, under the direction of research nurses and practitioners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Working on site at the Trust between July 6th and August 14th 2026
· Assisting with research projects, designing, collecting and analysing data, and reporting and liaising with stakeholders, as part of the COMPAS Mental Health Research Group at Keele University.
· Drafting an academic research paper for the FARM-SP NIHR Funded research project, and supporting with data collection for the FIRESIDE2 NIHR funded research project.
· Communicating about and promoting the work of the Research and Innovation department through appropriate media (personal interaction, websites, social media)
· Delivering national NIHR portfolio research activity to time and target
· Supporting with a variety of research administrative duties such as note taking, coordinating meetings and drafting documents.
· Undertaking study specific training as required such as physical health skills
· Participating in meetings and conferences to present on studies and internship programme
· Travel to Keele University and across the geography of the Trust as required by specific projects
