We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative, and dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and dedicated team on the Stroke Rehabilitation Ward at Haywood Hospital.

At Haywood Hospital, part of MPFT, we provide specialist inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from complex strokes. Our patients often present with multiple needs – physical, social, cognitive, and psychological – and we work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to ensure holistic, patient-centred care.

Our goal is to maximise independence, support safe and effective discharges, and deliver an excellent standard of care across all pathways. Patient welfare is at the heart of everything we do.

Sneyd ward is a 20-bed specialist stroke rehabilitation ward, with close links with the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) acute stroke unit. The team is made up of highly skilled MDT including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists.

 

We are looking for a therapist who is experienced and confident in managing complex stroke cases, with a genuine passion for stroke rehabilitation and a commitment to improving patient outcomes. You will bring strong leadership skills, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. HCPC registration and relevant postgraduate experience are essential for this role.

As a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in providing expert assessment and intervention for patients experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties following a stroke. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver personalised rehabilitation plans that meet individual patient needs. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to service development and drive innovation within stroke rehabilitation, ensuring we continue to deliver the highest standards of care. Supporting and mentoring junior staff and students will also be an important part of your role, helping to build skills and confidence within the team.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Masters level post qualification courses or equivalent training/ experience in area of specialism
  • Post Graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course or equivalent.

  • Relevant Training / Education
