This role is based in the Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies Service and aims to develop the Low Intensity service provision within Talking Therapies and represents an opportunity for experienced Low Intensity workers who are committed to this model to move to develop their careers within a Talking Therapies service.
The post-holder will:
• Hold a qualification (postgraduate diploma/certificate) in low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LiCBT) and be registered with British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) or British Psychological Society (BPS).
• Offer evidence-based practice in guided self-help, computerised CBT and group interventions.

You will be expected to have a small caseload to meet the minimum requirements for professional registration and to be working with staff, Service Users and Carers from different cultural backgrounds, ages, difference and diversity. You should be committed to culturally sensitive practice and offering equal opportunities.
You may be called upon to work in various community settings (including GP surgeries and other 3rd sector settings) and psychological treatment centres.
You will undertake appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis in accordance with the relevant professional guidelines and policies, as well as provide clinical supervision to Assistant PWPs and Trainee PWPs in the Talking Therapies team.
You will liaise regularly and work together with GPs, other NHS professionals, and colleagues in Psychological Therapies to deliver the local service and work together with colleagues and other NHS professionals in the management of patient risk and safety.

- To offer rapid screening and assessment, informed by knowledge of the spectrum of mental health needs and risk factors.
- Provide patients registered with GP practices/health centres and or who reside in Thurrock assessment and low intensity intervention, drawing from CBT theories and techniques.
- To provide a service that is equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.
- Make appropriate referrals to other service providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors and redirect patients to other sources of appropriate support within the local community as required.
- Develop a ‘local knowledge’ of the locality and its services and facilities, particularly in relation to mental health issues.
- Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying LiCBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
- Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP, and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the governing bodies e.g. National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).
- To develop and maintain close professional therapeutic relationships with Service Users while using LiCBT skills to bring about psychological change.

Qualifications

- Registration as a wellbeing practitioner with the BABCP or BPS
Experience

- A minimum of one year’s experience working in a primary mental health service offering and delivering the range of evidence-based low intensity interventions such as computerised CBT, guided self help and group psycho-education
- Experience of assessing clients with a wide range of mild and moderate mental health conditions
- Experience in a service with agreed clinical outcome targets in place
Skills

- Knowledge of different models of mental health/mental illness
- Able to identify training needs and opportunities to enable supervisees to maintain professional accreditation and enhance clinical skills.
- Knowledge of NHS policies, procedures and guidelines
- The capacity to adapt core psychological approaches to the primary care culture, incorporating a range of skills to meet a broad spectrum of presenting issues
