Job overview

The West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit an NHS England Approved and Experienced Clinical Coding Trainer to join their experienced and dedicated Clinical Coding team.

Flexible and Hybrid-Working opportunities available.

A Recruitment and Retention Premium of 12% per annum (approximately £4641) will be payable, to be reviewed annually.

Only candidates with the NHS Digital Approved and Experienced status will be successful.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for the development and implementation of the training programme for the Clinical Coding Department and be able to work effectively and efficiently alongside the Clinical Coding Team Manager and Audit Manager.

 

The post holder must

  • Be able to deliver existing NHS Digital training materials
  • Be able to develop, implement and deliver specific training materials

 

The applicant must have the ability to deliver an excellent clinical coding service to the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Job purpose:

·     To oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of a functional training programme for the Clinical Coding department to ensure Clinical Coding accuracy and integrity are maintained at the highest level

·         To be an active member of the Clinical Coding Department covering the management role for the Team Manager when necessary

·         With the Clinical Coding Team Manager and Audit Manager, monitor performance and ensure targets are met within allocated resources and agreed timescales

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC)
  • Good general education (Degree level or equivalent)
  • Certificate in Medical Terminology
  • NHS Digital Trained Trainer qualification
  • Clinical Coding Standards Course
Desirable criteria
  • Other teaching qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NHS coding experience.
  • Knowledge in Anatomy, Biology, Physiology
  • Refresher course in past 3 years.
  • Experience in Team environment.
  • Working knowledge of an electronic patient record system.
  • Working knowledge of Medicode encoder/other encoder
  • Teaching/mentoring experience
Desirable criteria
  • Management experience
