Bank Rotational Pharmacist B6/B7

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team on a temporary basis via our internal bank.

We are looking for a pharmacist who is already working confidently at Band 6 or Band 7 level and can provide high-quality pharmaceutical care within a busy acute NHS Trust.

Our bank colleagues enjoy many benefits such as employee assistance programme,  Blue Light card, subsidised gym membership and other NHS discounts.

Main duties of the job

This role would suit you if you:
•    Are a registered Pharmacist with hospital experience at Band 6 or Band 7 level
•    Are confident working within a multidisciplinary hospital team
•    Have experience using (or are comfortable learning) electronic prescribing and medicines record systems
•    Are flexible, adaptable, and able to support service delivery where needed
•    Have good teamwork and problem-solving skills

As a bank pharmacist, you will contribute to the delivery of clinical pharmacy services across the Trust, focusing on service provision. You will be expected to provide support to the pharmacy dispensary and the clinical areas within Medicine, Surgery and Admissions, while ensuring the safe and efficient supply of medication and clinical advice.
This post does not include a structured development or progression pathway (rotations); however, you will be working within a supportive, well-established pharmacy team that values professionalism, team-work, and high standards of patient care.

Key features of the role:
•    Flexibility to pick shifts that work for you
•    Band 6 or Band 7 (depending on experience)
•    Combination of clinical pharmacy services support and dispensary cover
•    Modern pharmacy service with electronic prescribing and dispensing
•    Collaboration with a supportive and dedicated team to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care

If you are an experienced hospital pharmacist looking for a temporary role within a welcoming Trust, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds provides acute and secondary care services (emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, day surgery unit, eye treatment centre, Macmillan unit and children's ward). It has 500+ beds and is a partner teaching hospital of the University of Cambridge.

Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

We do our utmost to achieve outstanding clinical outcomes for patients and our values of fairness, inclusivity, respect, safety and team work guide how we work and behave as a team.

With nearly 5,000 staff, from all over the world, we strive to make our organisation a great place to work. Whatever your role or ambition, we want to help you be the best you can be.
