Job overview
West Suffolk Foundation Trust have an opening for a 12mths fixed term role to cover maternity leave. This offers the opportunity for a full time Generic Worker to work alongside the Community Nursing Team, working to perform treatment plans as prescribed by the lead clinician.
The Community Nursing team, are part of the wider Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) consisting of community nurses, community matrons, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and Social Care Workers.
The team is busy, dynamic and proud of their holistic care approach. The team continues to change to support developments in Health & Social Care which includes close working relationships with the local statutory, non-statutory and voluntary services.
You will be actively supported by regular supervision and individual annual appraisal. You will be expected to work autonomously and on behalf of the patients served by the local area. You will have access to skills development training relevant to the post.
Main duties of the job
We receive referrals for adults with all long-term conditions; leg ulcer patients; diabetics; patients discharged from acute hospitals with ongoing needs and in the prevention and management of falls etc. Treatment is carried out in patients own homes.
You will be responsible for your own work with supervision & support from the Community Nurses & Therapists.
You are expected to have excellent communication & IT skills.
You will show experience of basic wound care skills & an ability to contribute to care planning and carrying out interventions to aid patients' health and wellbeing. You will have access to training and supervision that will build upon your current skills.
Frequent Travel Essential - You will need to travel, so you must either hold a full, current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

STAFF CAR PARKING
Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30.
For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.
This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.
