Community Phlebotomist

NHS AfC: Band 2

Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a Community Phlebotomist has arisen within the Newmarket Integrated Neighbourhood Team serving our local population. Mildenhall is one of six INT teams in West Suffolk. Our other INT localities are based in Mildenhall (Brandon base also), Bury Rural, Bury Town, Haverhill and Sudbury.

The INT accommodation ‘Hubs’ are the base for a wide range of other health professionals and agencies including Adult Social Care, social prescribers, GPs, police and mental health team members so we are able to work together in a fully integrated way to ensure the best care is delivered to the patients within our localities. We are now working more closely with the West Suffolk Hospitals Virtual Ward and Early Intervention Team (EIT), so you will be a part of their teams too, it’s a really exciting time to join us.

The successful applicant/s will join a dynamic, friendly team of community nurses, community matrons, therapists, social prescribers, social care staff, INT coordinators and local administrators, supported fully by a locality Team Manager, and Localities Lead. You will link closely with Virtual Ward and EIT colleagues as already mentioned.

Within the community setting educational opportunities are endless and we work with the WSFT education training team to ensure our staff can meet the varying, and often complex needs of our patients. Skill expansion is a focus for us in the INTs and alongside this often comes the opportunity for career progression.

Main duties of the job

This will be the perfect opportunity for you if you are able to work independently, but also thrive with the support of a close-knit large team, who are hugely experienced and supportive. You have the privilege of working with patients in their own home environment to improve their health, alongside spoke teams such as Virtual Ward and our Early Intervention Team (EIT). There are opportunities to be involved in quality improvement initiatives/ projects and service design.

We are considering part time hours, 15 hours a week, spread across two days. Being flexible across the five days of the week is important as we need to ensure we meet the needs of the patients in our locality, this will be mostly Early shifts 08:00- 16:00.

You will need to travel, so you must either hold a full, current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means. Pool cars at the base sites are available for staff use.

If you have the necessary skills, experience and qualities to help us to put patients first, please contact Pippa Sharp, Team Manager for the Mildenhall  and Newmarket INT, 07974854876 [email protected]  for an informal discussion or visit.
