Job overview

The Berkshire & Surrey Pathology Services Cytology department based at St Peter’s Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic member of staff to join our busy HPV Specimen Reception team.
The successful candidate will:
Work in the HPV Specimen Reception facility located in the Pathology suite at St Peter’s Hospital.
Be a key part of the team supporting our HPV primary testing service that delivers cervical screening across the South East and South Central screening regions.
Be used to working in a busy environment and meeting clearly defined hourly productivity targets.
Previous experience of working in a Pathology Reception or other NHS post would be advantageous although not essential as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for checking, sorting and labelling cervical screening samples.
Data enter patient request forms using the Winpath Enterprise Pathology I.T system.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Collect incoming deliveries from Main Pathology Specimen Reception.
  • Unpack, check and label gynaecological specimens.
  • Perform specimen data entry tasks using the Enterprise Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Work to clearly defined hourly productivity targets applicable to the job role.

The HPV Specimen Reception is open between the hours of 08.00 and 16.00 Monday to Friday; this post is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week.
