Are you an experienced and passionate Senior Therapist looking to take the next step in your career? This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape and lead high-quality stroke and neuro rehabilitation services within a dynamic and supportive NHS Trust and team.

We are seeking a highly skilled clinician with significant senior-level experience in stroke or neuro rehabilitation to join us as a Clinical Lead for Inpatient Stroke and Neuro Services.

Main duties of the job

About the Role

This is a diverse and rewarding leadership role where you will:

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership to fantastic multidisciplinary teams at St Peter’s Hospital
  • Support and develop teams across:
    • Stroke Rehabilitation (Phoenix)
    • Neuro Rehabilitation (Phoenix)
  • Balance hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being visible, approachable, and part of the team, while also helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.

You will lead and support:

  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Dietitians
  • Speech & Language Therapist

What We’re Looking For

  • HCPC registration in one of the relevant therapy professions
  • Master’s level qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong clinical expertise in stroke or neurology rehabilitation
  • Proven leadership and management experience
  • Enjoys supporting and developing others
  • A proactive, innovative approach to service development
  • Experience in acute and rehabilitation settings (desirable)
  • Experience in leading multiprofessional teams (desirable)
  • Is motivated to improve services and patient outcomes

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver day-to-day operational leadership ensuring safe, effective care
  • Support patient flow and discharge planning across the Trust
  • Ensure compliance with SSNAP requirements
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives across the teams in the stroke and neuro pathway
  • Collaborate with Clinical Leads across:
    • Acute Stroke
    • Early Supported Discharge for Stroke (ESD)
    • Regional Neurorehab Unit (Bradley)
    • Wider Therapy Services

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping innovative models of care to meet growing service demands.

Essential and desirable

Essential criteria
  • Significant clinical experience working at a senior level in stroke and neuro rehabilitation
  • Be able to promote therapies and rehabilitation in an acute environment
  • Ability to motivate others to deliver good services in challenging circumstances.
  • Able to demonstrate how to prioritise workload and needs of self and others
  • Dietetic, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language degree
  • Post Graduate education in relevant clinical area
  • Significant experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of effectively managing and leading a clinical team
  • Personnel management experience, including involvement in recruitment & selection, performance management
  • Experience of successfully leading a team or services though service change and re design with a focus on productivity and efficiency
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and clearly at all levels of organisations, both internally and externally
  • Experience of mentoring and developing other staff and students.
  • Able to assess, plan and progress treatments appropriately
  • Recognise need to be visible and flexible to meet needs of services and staff
  • Strong self awareness and an ability to reflect and learn from experiences
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing staff from different professional backgrounds
  • Ability to lead teams through service review, redesign and deliver change
  • Experience of leading complaint investigations
  • Experience of working in community services
  • Experience of managing relationships and developing services with key partners, including community services and other agencies
