An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding individual to join our team as the Divisional Chief Nurse for Urgent and Emergency Care at St Peter's Hospital.   The role will form part of the Divisional Management Team, working closely with the Divisional Director and Associate Director of Operations to ensure that high standards of care are delivered to our patients.    You will also support your senior nursing colleagues in contributing to the delivery of clinical strategy and risk management.  

You will be a Registered Nurse with a Masters qualification or equivalent experience, as well as evidence of continuing professional development.  A proven track record of success in senior operational and clinical management roles is essential.   

We are looking for a visible leader who will empower and support their team to deliver best practice and high quality, safe and efficient services to our patients, as well as working collaboratively across the Trust and system to ensure the engagement of other services in supporting the Urgent and Emergency Care agenda. 

The post holder will have overall responsibility for the management of divisional nursing services including the Emergency Department, Acute Medicine, SDEC, the Clinical Assessment Unit, Acute Frailty and the .  You will also act as Trust nursing lead to support our partnership with the on-site Urgent Treatment Centre and Psychiatric liaison team.

The Divisional Chief Nurse works in partnership with the Divisional Director and Associate Director of Operations to lead the Division and ensure that a high standard of quality and safe care is provided to our patients.   The post holder is professionally and managerially accountable for the Division's nursing and AHP workforce, including nursing policy, training and education, rostering and service development across the Division.    The post holder will lead the Division's CQC Quality Risk Profiles to ensure quality standards are met and risks mitigated.

From a professional leadership perspective you will work with the Chief Nurse, Senior Nursing and Midwifery Team and Quality team to contribute to and lead on workstreams to implement the Quality Safety and Risk Management Strategy, the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy, the 6 'C' national agenda, and IPC strategy.   You will lead on delivery of the Division's governance agenda with the support of your divisional management colleagues and will ensure that your approach is evidence and values based and that patients and the public are engaged in planning significant service changes.

You will also ensure that your services are safely staffed, cost effective and that budgets are managed appropriately within allocated resources.
